Eyelid disorders / Ptosis
Suffering from these symptoms?
A visible drooping of the upper eyelid – in one or both eyes
This can be caused by a number of things:
Being born with a droopy lid (congenital ptosis)
Advancing age
Injury
Muscle disease
Damage to the nerve or muscle that lifts the eyelid
How is it treated?
Most types of ptosis are treated with surgery under local anaesthesia, with intravenous sedation to make you more comfortable. Some rare forms are treated with medication, where surgery is not advisable.
