Dr Mpopi Lenake is an ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic surgery. Dr Lenake provides both surgical and non-surgical treatments for conditions affecting the eyelids, tear ducts, orbit (eye socket), and surrounding facial structures.
About Dr Mpopi Lenake
Dr Lenake has been an ophthalmologist at The Eye Centre since 2016 and holds a sessional consultant position at Groote Schuur Hospital. After completing her medical degree at Stellenbosch University, she undertook her specialist training at Groote Schuur Hospital and a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne Australia.
She was the recipient of the Justin van Selm medal, which is awarded to outstanding candidates in the fellowship examination of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa. Her MMed degree from the University of Cape Town was also awarded with distinction. She is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS) and a past president of the South African Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons (SASOPS).
She treats a wide range of medical and surgical oculoplastic conditions in both adults and children, including malpositioned eyelids, tearing conditions, and orbital disorders. She is also skilled in administering botulinum toxin injections for both medical and aesthetic purposes.
